Tulane University Executive Board for 2025-2026
From: Ringoes, New Jersey
Major: Cell and Molecular Biology / Exercise Science
Year: 4th Year
Why BEI? “My goal when starting this chapter at Tulane University was to help those like my Aunt Pam who suffered from Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease in a nursing home for many years. I wanted to do something in her memory and to help those like her remember more.”
From: Phoenix, Arizona
Major: Cell and Molecular Biology
Minor: Exercise Science
Year: 4th Year
Why BEI? "As a cell and molecular biology major and an individual on the pre-med track I am extremely interested in working with individuals with dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. I have had personal experiences with family members suffering from Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia which have allowed me to gain insight and passion to be involved with these conditions."
Major: Environmental Biology
Minor: Public Health Nutrition
Year: Sophomore
Why BEI? "Helping our local adults in retirement homes ‘workout’ their brains through BEI would not only help slow their cognitive decline and keep their brains healthy but also give me the gift of meaningful connections with our wiser population."
Major: Neuroscience
Minor: Public Health
Year: Junior
Why BEI? "I’m passionate about understanding the mechanisms behind Alzheimer’s disease and promoting healthy aging. In the lab, I study how intermittent infections affect cognitive decline, and through volunteering at a hospice and hospital, I’ve seen how activities like conversation and crosswords bring joy and mental stimulation to older adults. BEI allows me to connect my research with my commitment to supporting brain health in the community!"
Major: Neuroscience and Computer Science
Minor: Cell and Molecular Biology
Year: Junior
Why BEI? "My grandmother struggled for years with dementia, and spending time with her in her retirement home showed me how meaningful conversation and simple activities can be. I love that we get to connect with elders in the NOLA community, help to keep their minds active, and learn from their life experiences. Being part of BEI lets me honor my grandmother's experience while sharing that mission with more students."
